My Daughter. A gift that just keeps on giving.
Tonight, while we were out of the room she took a really strong magnet and touched it to the television screen in, like, a smiley face pattern.
How did we know?
Because now there is a big greenish or multi colored PERMANENT smiley face as part of our viewing pleasure. Only you can't really see the smiley face until the screen goes all one color so mostly it looks like patches of green and dark.
Sweet.

go to Home Depot see if they have a tv degausser. It will fix that right up for you.

yikes.. Yeah I knew about that whole magnet deal. Because our sub woofer was too close to our tv and it has one heck of a magnet in it.
The best way to remove that is to well, do what lisa said. Or take a rather large magnet, like in one of those shaker flashlights you know the kind that don't need batteries.... or any other large magnet and circle the front of the tv without touching it and drag it off to the side to get it out.

I'd laugh but I know that one of our kids will do this someday, so I'm cringing already. I hope that the commenters who listed a remedy are right and that your tv isn't so smiley soon!
This is so funny - at least to me - because when my 21 year old son was in second grade, he did the exact same thing to our brand new TV. Thank goodness Mr. Pom was away on business and it did fade quickly. But near gave me a heart attack!
